Aladdin’s Lamp

hut Trip

February 27th - 28th, 2025

Molas Pass,

Silverton, CO

6 Spots available!

Join us for an exciting backcountry guided plein air painting workshop, designed especially for beginners in both skiing and painting! Experience the breathtaking beauty of untouched snow-covered landscapes while honing your outdoor painting skills. Jake will guide you through the basics of backcountry travel, ensuring your safety and enjoyment as you explore stunning terrains. As you navigate the trails, you’ll have the chance to capture the serene winter scenery on canvas, blending the thrill of adventure with the art of plein air painting. Don't miss this unique opportunity to connect with nature and unleash your creativity!

Aladdin’s Lamp Hut is a rustic hut that is the only one on Molas Pass in between Silverton and Durango. You’ll only have to ski/ snowshoe in about a 1/4 mile off HWY 550 to the hut. There is no avy terrain on the traverse to the hut. We will be avoiding avalanche terrain during your stay, but avy awareness and the necessary equipment will be required. We will be painting after you arrive and get settled, and again in the morning before taking off. We may do some studies and basic color theory lessons in the hut in between ventures outside. This will all be taught with oil paint, no prior experience necessary. Have no fear! Once we’ve painted our masterpieces, Jake can point and accompany any interested participants in the direction of some prime time powder stashes, although any skiing occurring outside the property boundaries of the hut will be considered unguided, and undertaken at your own risk.
